How To Be Classy - Classically Elegant

A write up about how to be classy, classically elegant, Simply sophisticated, sophisticated women, simply sophisticated, sophisticated women, , elegant sophisticated, elegant woman, become a socialite, socialite life

"Be Classy" is about changing your feather to a finer class.

classy grace kelly

Contrary to popular belief, money and class are not the same thing.

What is "class" then? Class refers to a group of people according to the things they have in common, including money.

Unfortunately, many think once they have money, they have class. That is not the case. I've given a bit of history on my page, How to be a lady .

It is possible to have lots of money and no class. It is also possible to have class and no money. But of course I want you to have both class and money. We'll talk about what it means to be "classy", in specifics, classically elegant.

Be Classy - Classically Elegant

The Word "Classy"

If you googled the number of websites with the word "classy" in the entire web, you'll find that there are 78763 number of pages using that word.

It is one of the most misrepresented words. People use it to describe elegance, sophistication, stylish women. They also use it to describe art, a hotel, a restaurant etc.

While the above is not wrong, it is also very subjective. What appears to be "classy" to you, may not be classy to someone else.

Even the Dictionary have very little to say. Dictionary.com simply classifies it an informal word which represents the traits, 'stylish and sophisticated'.

Perhaps it is so much more.

Be Classy

Classify Yourself"

I'm sure we can guess and derive the word, "classification" from classify, and the root word of "Class" and "Classy".

Remember what was said earlier, "Class refers to a group of people according to the things they have in common, including money."

So when we look at someone, meet someone, eat something, go somewhere we automatically 'classify' that person, restaurant, place into a category in our head. We unknowingly sort people and things out.

Check these thoughts running through our mind:

"Oh he is so smart. He must have gone to a very good university."

"Oh wow, he is a doctor. He must be smart and earns a lot."

"This is the kind of place that teenagers go to."

"She is so fancy. Her dad/husband must be rich."

Though we are all different, the stages of refinement are similar everywhere in the world. The characteristics of a "classy person" are identified by people of different backgrounds, though they may use another word.

This explains why every royal princess of different cultures have similar traits, "well-groomed, educated, good posture, gracious etc..."

In other words, in order to be classy, we have to develop ourselves further and gear towards refinement in every sense of the word.

Perhaps you could guess by now, but I much prefer the word "refined".

Be Classy

Refinement

Is refinement important?

Is it superficial and silly?

Many intellectuals or women in very important and high status professions are too proud and think lowly of such subjects. Many believe that their high salaries buy themselves into the world of luxury and hence they are refined.

There is admittedly some value in that, because being able to afford luxuries can teach you some aspects of being classy. But mostly these people will realize in time to come that it is not what makes a woman refined.

Stop feeling guilty!

Many women including myself sometimes think it is silly to want to be refined.

There is a sense of guilt that all good women have to self sacrifice their wants and desires for their loved ones, including money. They often think its extravagant to buy luxuries, or spend on something that indulges themselves.

I've got to put a stop to this!

Unknowingly, we have placed a low value on yourself.

As I've mentioned in many of our pages, treat yourself first class! On occasion, buy yourself some luxury item or treat yourself to your education of refinement, within budget and reason. I'll speak to you guys about your finances in another page. Do subscribe to my updates!

Refinement is an act of improvement.

If the greatest men and women on earth who did not invest their life and dollars into improving medicine, furniture, electrical appliances, we won't be where we are today. We won't be enjoying gourmet food, recording pictures of our children or travels on the digital camera or video camera.

We won't be looking a lot younger with fabulous beauty creams, being able to travel, keep in touch with our friends, get knowledge so quickly etc.

We won't be living the life we have today. What we have now, we are far more wealthy in every sense of the word compared to our parents' day.

Refinement is living to your greatest potential and enjoying the process.

Be Classy

Why Should You Be Classy

Firstly, it is beautiful.

It is also a way of improving yourself, experiencing a quality life and living well.

Being classy evokes admiration from your peers. People who are refined will identify you as "one of them". While it is not true all the time, there is a significant portion of wealthy people who are 'classy' as identified by everyone.

(Hence that is way, people mistake wealth = class ).

Because they feel like you are like them, they feel that they have a lot in common with you. They would want to develop friendships with you, socialize with you, do business with you, marry you, welcome your children into marriages with them.

Having those connections can help you in your career, business, pursuing your charitable cause, getting into places by invitation only and give you access to a world that was beyond reach before.

I've done my research and on many websites and no one tells us how to be classy as "meticulously" as Ginie Sayles. She describes them as layers of class.

Be Classy

Layers of Class

I'm not a huge fan of the word "layers" but it'll have to do (until I think of a better word!).

simply sophisticated women

Basically, she says that as long as you develop those layers, you can be classy, without money. She recommends to have at least 10.

Please note that these are mere descriptions of the intrinsic values of "class". It is one woman's opinion (and mine) and they are not facts.

  1. Layer one - Wealth
  2. Layer two - Lineage
  3. Layer three - Memberships
  4. Layer four - Education
  5. Layer five - Arts
  6. Layer six - Social savvy
  7. Layer seven - Political clout
  8. Layer eight - Travel sophistication
  9. Layer nine - Sports
  10. Layer ten - Values
  11. Layer eleven - Achievement
  12. Layer twelve - Hobbies
  13. Layer thirteen - Philanthropy
  14. Layer fourteen - Manners andSelf care
  15. I would like to include another "layer" which is

  16. Layer Fifteen - Good Language

Please click on each layer/link to read more about what each layer means.

Developing These Layers

Each layer adds quality to your life.

Developing these layers one by one or simultaneously gives each of us a personalized roadmap to experience what life has got to offer, what God has in plans for us, to reach our potential or fully discover what we are made of.

In doing so, we increase in our self confidence, knowledge. We expand our minds, widen our horizons, and we start to like and believe in ourselves.

To our classically elegant dreams!
