Bridal/Baby Shower

I was wondering what your thoughts were on this situation.

Jack and Jill live together, have a baby, buy a house. Jill has a nice baby shower.

A couple years later Jack and Jill plan a big wedding. Jill gets pregnant and they decide to make it a small wedding and get married in a few short weeks.

Three months later Jill wants another baby shower and the bridal shower she never had combined into one.

People are asked to bring a baby gift, a bridal gift or both.

People are invited to the combination shower even though they weren't invited to the wedding.

Is this proper to do a combination shower even though you normally only have one baby shower and a bridal shower three months after the wedding???

I'm Really Really wondering what your thoughts are on this situation.

What is the proper way to handle this situation? THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

Pregnant Bride NEW
by: Anonymous

What would be appropriate when the Bride is pregnant with her first child? A combined bridal/baby shower is being planned. How should invitations be worded to express cash gifts are desired?

Simply Turn Up With One Bridal Shower Gift
by: Eunice

Showers may be given for second babies, but they should be restricted to very close friends and family, or to people not invited for the first shower. That is the general baby shower etiquette.

Obviously, the way the situation has been handled admittedly is in poor taste, but there is nothing you can do on your end as a guest.

On a practicality standpoint, combined showers are fine but NOT to the extent of asking your guests to bring two gifts. And also the second baby shower should be toned down a bit, or to have none at all (see above).

I suggest you simply turn up with a bridal shower gift and let that be that.
