Can I go to a birthday party without a present?

Is it required to bring a present to a child's birthday party (or an adult birthday party)? Can I go to to the party without a gift?

If they invited me to a party, do they want my presence or my present?

Thank you

It really depends.....
by: Anonymous

It really depends on the situation and/or your relationship with the kid or the parents. If they are really your very close friend, then they will not really mind if you don't bring any. That is if you can't really afford to buy any gift at all. But there are gifts that need not be bought. Please visit my article and maybe you can find some inspiration.

How cheap are you?

Were you born in a barn? Children live for birthday parties and presents. Shame on you for even asking this absurd question. Stay home.

Of course you can

Of course you can go to a birthday party without a present.

Though it would be extra nice to bring a bunch of flowers, some chocolates.

No one is going to get mad at you (at least your real friends won't) if you don't bring a present, but it is more thoughtful to do so.
