Gas mask please!

by katherine aufiero

One of my supervisors at work constantly and openly passes gas. The smell is foul and the lack of respect is outrageous! How do we confront him without getting him angry?

Is it possible the person can't help it? NEW
by: Anonymous

As someone who has frequent issues with gas myself, I don't honestly know how one holds it in. I mean, I am able to control it to some degree and it's humiliating when I can't manage to get alone before letting it go, but there are times I really can't control it. Is it possible this person has a digestive issue?

Men aren't the only ones... NEW
by: Anonymous

I've noticed this among women, as well. It's appalling. Sometimes it happens by accident, and that is excusable, but passing gas on purpose in the presence of others is rude. No one should ever inflict their bodily functions on another human being on purpose.

This is a matter that the supervisor's supervisor should handle. If possible, employees need to tactfully speak to this man's boss and ask him to speak to him about his workplace manners. If his boss is a woman, then another man that has good rapport with him should confront him.

Keep it to yourself NEW

I find it disrespectful although men usually say "It's a natural body function so it should be ok" I made a rule in my house when my kids were young, "Not in the kitchen". It still stands today. It's respectful to excuse yourself before the blast.
