Greeting cards

Should guests who are in my home take it upon themselves to look at greeting cards (birthday, Easter, etc) that I have displayed on my TV unit without asking if it is ok to do so?

A little late now as the post was last year but... I agree that as the cards are on display it would appear to those who come into your home that they are for viewing. However, it would be good manners and generally expected that a guest would first ask whether you would mind them 'having a look', although it would not be expected that you would refuse. Bea

This is a very silly / stupid question! If you do not want some one else to read / see some thing, just, do not display that - it is, just, that simple!

Isn't that the point of displaying them?

Things are displayed so that people can look
by: Anonymous

Sorry. I disagree. If you are displaying cards in an area of your home where you welcome guests, you are inviting your guests to look at them. It is no different from the knick-knacks or photos that are displayed. If you don't want people to look at them, put them on display in your bedroom.

Reading other people's greeting cards

I definitely do not think it is appropriate. You might consider displaying blank cards next time.
