Inviting boss to wedding

To start I am the boss who was not invited to the wedding. I have read that it is not required of people to invite the boss anymore to special occassions.

As a person not as the boss I am hurt that I was not included, not even for an after dinner drink. Yes I know a boss with feelings, go figure!

Many years I have worked with this person and it seems that an invitation was not even a consideration.

Am I old fashion in my thinking or was I being snubbed?

No matter the answer I still plan on buying this person a gift to honor the moment, but with a heavy heart.
