Now officially known as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge after one of the highest profile wedding in the world. She is now married to Prince William.

Kate Middleton was born as Catherine Elizabeth Middleton on 9th of January in 1982. At age 2 - 4, her family moved to Jordan for work. She later returned Berkshire, England in September 1986.

Kate Middleton's Education

St Andrew's, Marlbourough College

In September 1986, Kate attended St Andrew’s prep School in Pangbourne, Berkshire followed by Downe House in Newbury until July 1995.

She then attended Marlbourough College in Wiltshire, where she studied Chemistry, Biology and Art at A-levels. She also played tennis, hockey and netball for school. She was said to be good at athletics and especially the high jump.

According to the Official Royal Wedding Site,

Kate took a gap year after leaving Marlborough college in July 2000. She spent her gap her in classic British fashion, she studied at the British Institute in Florence, undertook a Raleigh International programme in Chile, and crewed on Round the World Challenge boats in the Solent.

The royal bride followed Sloane convention by going on a volunteering trip to Chile in 2001, working on environmental projects and a community programme with underprivileged children, organised by Raleigh International, the educational development charity. - The Telegraph

The British Institute

The British Institute was the first British cultural organisation to operate abroad. Its original aim was to promote understanding between Italy, Britain and the Commonwealth, through the study of art history, and the English and Italian languages.

University of St Andrews

University of St Andrews, Kate Middleton's biography

Kate then enrolled at the University of St Andrews In 2001, Catherine enrolled at the University of St Andrews, from where she graduated in 2005 with a 2:1 in History of Art.

She continued playing hockey for the University team.

She met Prince William here. In March 2002, he noticed her when she modeled at a charity fashion show. He told a friend he thought she was beautiful. See their relationship timeline.

Kate Middleton's Career and Hobbies


After completing her degree, Kate worked as an accessory buyer in Jigsaw, a clothing chain. She also worked in her family's business, "Party Pieces" as a catalogue photographer, webpage designer and in marketing.

In 2008, she was said to have launched First Birthdays, a junior brand to Party Pieces.


In several Kate Middle's biographies, it was unclear whether she has specifically stated any hobbies. However, she certainly seems quite active and sporty.

Her reported activities and interests: athletics, hockey, crew, photography, fashion and accessories, tennis, sailing, painting, the arts.
