Married into a family of Three adult children
by Not appreciated
I am writing regarding this past thanksgiving and many instances of not being acknowledged.
I married five years ago into a family of three adult children and seven grandchildren. I am generous with gifts and time babysitting. During this time the adult children and grandchildren have never acknowledged my birthday.
Despite my generosity it is like I am a nobody.
We have them for Christmas holiday and a summer barbeque. They rarely reciprocate.
This thanksgiving we never even got a phone call to wish us a nice holiday. All live nearby.
It bothers my husband but he is too perplexed as what to do or how to handle. We don't want to confront our expectations.
We also don't want to hurt the grandchildren. But it seems they call only when they want something. Be it babysitting on short notice. We so enjoy the grandkids but don't like the way we are treated.
