impolite
by: Anonymous

it is very impolite not to acknowledge a gift whether it be in the form of a check or otherwise. This person sounds ungrateful and impolite and if it were me, after checking with the bank first to see if the check was cashed, I would ask her point blank if she received it. I have actually done this and it leaves them speechless most of the time. I have very little use of people who cannot write a "thank you" note.

Do a little sleuthing first

One way to find out would be whether the check was cashed/deposited. Check your bank records first. If it has not cleared your bank, you may want to put a stop on it before buying a new gift or writing a new check.
