by Tish

My fiancee has been mentioning to me for months now that I do not act like a female. There are certain things that I do not do that the normal prissy woman would do, but I try. When he says things like your acting like a dude, act like a woman, lower your voice; it makes me feel depressed creating low self-esteem.

I am visiting your site to not help out my relationship with my fiancee, but the relationship I have with myself. I just want to learn how to be more of a elegant lady.

Being a -modern- woman
by: eskimosoap

Hi Tish! I just want you to know that you're not alone and I too came to this site to learn the ways of a lady. My partner does often remind me to use my 'inside voice', especially when I am excitedly sharing a story with him.

But to be honest, I think it's completely acceptable to be loud and animated when the situation allows it. Being an elegant woman, to me, does not require one to be uncomfortable and deny one's own individuality. I think the core of being an elegant woman is to have confidence and respect for others but most importantly yourself.

What does he refer to when he says 'you are acting like a dude'? Have a little talk with him to get a sense of things, so you know where to look on this fantastic site. I get a little lost sometimes!

Good luck Tish with your journey!
