Receiving Gifts in the Workplace

I am a registered nurse. I am employed by a hospital and am compensated for my work. Some of the physicians that I work with give gifts to individuals during the holidays. Do I accept these gifts or politely decline by saying, "What a nice gesture, however, I cannot accept this gift because I feel it would be ethically wrong of me. Please apply this toward something nice for the unit, etc........"?
