Regifting or pawning a gift away

by starla
(spokane, wa)

My husband feels that once a gift is given to him, he has the right to do what ever he wants with that gift and the giver has no right to be offended. I gave my husband a 400.00 weight set that we were using as a family. He gave them to his son. Today they sit over at the exwife's house. I was beyond insulted that he gave such and expensive gift from me away. Also, his father gave him a older, but nice pickup truck when he (his father) moved into an assisted living community. He gave it to my husband because my husband frequently asked to borrow it. My husband turned around and sold it. I say my father inlaw could have sold the truck himself and kept the money himself. The truck was given to him so he would have it when he needed a truck, not so he could collect the blue book value on it. What is your opinion on gift giving away?
