Renewal of Vows what to do?

I married my wonderful husband 10 years ago. We went to the Justice of the Peace and got married without any family or friends and did not have a ceremony. We want to have a renewal of the vows and an intimate dinner for our family and close friends. My husband believes we should list no gifts on the invitation, I believe gifts are acceptable since we never received any from them before. What is the correct answer?
