She does my hair...should I tip her and if so how much???...she charges me $20.00. Her sister washes and puts curlers in my hair, which I of course tip her.

Thanks

Tipping for Christmas gift NEW
by: Anonymous

I would still tip for a Christmas gift. It would be like her giving you a gift card to a salon. Depending on what all she does and how well it is appreciated. She probably would never say anything but if you don't tip I bet you never get anything from her again.

Another question? NEW
by: Anonymous

I'm really unsure as to what to do in this situation and your thread was along the same lines. I do daycare for a mother that owns a salon. As a Christmas gift she gave me a day at her salon for a cut, color, mani, pedi, etc. Should I tip her the day of the visit? Do you tip for a gift? And what would an appropriate amount be?

Why are you required to tip the owner? NEW
by: Anonymous

The Hair Salon Owner is license and registered or incorporated as a business that charges set fees and should not be tipped. Do you tip the mechanic that services your car, a plumber that unplugs your toilet, the electrician that fixes a electrical problem in your house, the landscaper that mows your lawn, the repairman that fixes your appliances, clergy that you seek spiritual council, etc? How about tipping a doctor and dentist? These are also considered personal services.

when to tip NEW
by: Anonymous

Of course you tip! Whether or not he/she owns the salon he/she is still cutting your hair and it is a service. As to how much always go by how happy you were with everything. If it was fine start at 20%, for extra keep adding so if the cut is exactly what you want and the stylist was attentive and friendly and you want the same treatment next time up your tip. The bigger the tip the better you will be received the next time! Trust me bad tippers are remembered and so are good tippers when in doubt over tip that way you can't go wrong.
