Unwelcomed Guest

My husband travels quite a bit for his job. The problem is that every time he is gone my mother ends up showing up at my house & staying for hours. There have been times where I go to bed & she still doesn't leave! During this time she's either eating my food, using my computer or watching tv. It's very annoying. Sometimes I just want to have a little bit of time to myself when my husband is away. How do I handle this? I've dropped hints, I've been flat out blunt with her & nothing seems to work. Advice please!

Communicate with care. . . NEW

Why does she need to KNOW when your husband is traveling? I'd suggest keeping that information to yourself, unless you feel like you might enjoy a visit from Mom during a particular trip. . .

Just my 2 cents

How about making up an excuse and say that you'll be out? Make a coffee date with your girlfriend at Starbucks nearby. Or go to the library for a while?

You don't have to tell her how long you'll be out.

I doubt she will want to hang out at your house if she's all alone.
