Who should Host the Bridesmaid's Luncheon?

My aunt, who is the Grandmother of the Bride, asked me if it were appropriate for her to host the Bridesmaid Luncheon for her granddaughter's wedding in early June, 2010.

On whom does this responsibility usually fall, and are there circumstances that would permit my aunt to do so? She plans well and well in advance, and all the bridesmaids are young college students.
