Whose seat is it?

i was just reading the newspaper and was wondering what is right or wrong. If you are invited to a social get together to watch a movie with other friends and you put your coat on the chair that you want to sit in and when you come back to your seat someone moved your belongings so that they could sit there. Even though this is a house, isn't it still wrong to move the belongings. Shouldn't the other people have found a different seat to sit in?
